This looks like a freaking awesome party down in the Sierra Nevadas. But October is a hard time for me to get away, what with everyone else in school and all. Heck, maybe it will be a great time for ME to break away. Sigh, probably not.

Taste, explore and experience real food Sunday, May 17th. The Celebration of Food Festival, Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.
The festival is a free family event that innovatively highlights sustainable, local, organic and wholesome (SLOW) food. “In our fourth year, we are still running a very unique event. We bring people together from Snohomish County and beyond to showcase delicious, local, wholesome food,” said festival organizer Chris Hudyma. “Our intent is to foster a community that is passionate about real food. It’s a journey for people to rediscover that they can grow and cook their own food and that it can taste so much better than the processed food we so often eat in this country.” Highlights of the festival include: educational presentations; cooking demonstrations; children’s story tent and book giveaways; hands-on kids’ cooking and kitchen skills station; and vendors consisting of local farms and businesses.
The Celebration of Food Festival is brought to you by Edmonds Community College and the City of Lynnwood with support by: Cedar Grove Compost, Central Market, Edmonds CC Campus Green Fund. Grow Northwest, PCC Natural Markets, Swedish Edmonds, Verdant Health Commission, and Whole Foods Market Lynnwood. For more information about the Food Festival, visit www.edcc.edu/foodfest. |

Starting last week, MOHAI is presenting American Spirits: The Rise And Fall Of Prohibition. Running now until August 23, the story of Prohibition, Seattle and the way our region both pushed the boundaries, as well as feeling the impact of this hallmark period in our country’s evolution. Should be a fascinating exploration in this social experiment and the long-standing repercussions.
Everett’s Xfinity Arena hosts world class events all the time. Here’s another:
XFINITY Arena at Everett will again play host to more than 300 of the world’s best gymnasts when they compete in the 2016 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships April 8-10, 2016. In 2012, XFINITY Arena hosted the three-day international event that features the top gymnasts from the Pac Rim countries.
“The 2012 Pac Rim Championships in Everett was one of the most successful ever held,” said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. “The way the local community, civic leaders, facilities and the gymnastics family worked together to stage a great event put Everett at the top of our potential site list when we were awarded the event for 2016. We are looking forward to a repeat performance next year.”
The three-day event features athletes from more than 14 countries competing in men’s and women’s gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, and trampoline.
Held every two years, the Pacific Rim Championships traditionally feature gymnasts from Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, Singapore and the United States. NBC Sports will broadcasting onsite.

Hey everyone,
This coming Wednesday June 25th, my office is sponsoring Tech Savvy Today. These speakers have all successfully used modern marketing, branding, and social media to build dynamic and powerful businesses. It’s a whopping $25, which gets you in front of some key thought leaders in this space. Not only do I recommend this, my money has been put where my mouth is (as the adage goes); I’ll be attending, too. Come join me! I look forward to seeing you there.
