Don’t Be a Holiday Crime Target
LYNNWOOD, WA (November 19, 2018) – The busy holiday season is here. When you are shopping for those precious gifts, take the following precautions to protect yourself from becoming a victim:
Shopping from home:
Do not have items shipped to your home if no one will be there to receive them. Packages are too easily stolen from front porches.
Vehicle Prowl Prevention:
Vehicle prowls are the theft of property from a motor vehicle. Most are crimes of opportunity such as through unlocked doors and open windows. Also, vehicles can sustain expensive damage – especially to their windows, doors and locks when there is forcible entry.
Large parking locations, such as shopping centers, are prime targets for a prowler since multiple vehicles can be hit in a short time span. To avoid being a car prowl target:
Remember the 3 S’s:
Scan: Scan the contents of your vehicle. Are there items visible that would be of interest to a criminal?
Stow: Discreetly stow everything out of sight; you don’t want someone to SEE YOU placing something in your trunk. Do NOT use a blanket or coat to cover valuables, this piques the interest of a prowler.
Secure: Close windows and lock your vehicle.
Parking lot/ Personal Safety:
Special Winter Weather Warning:
I just found these two events that are happening tomorrow in Marysville and Everett respectively.
The Port of Everett is hosting the Holiday By The Bay. Check out the flyer below for details.
The City of Marysville will be hosting their annual Christmas Parade tomorrow evening starting at 5:00 pm. It’s along State ave, which will be blocked off starting at 4th street. So, find a place to park as close to Comeford Park as you can.
Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, we can consider the holidays fully upon us. Warm 106.9 is fully on Christmas Music mode (24/7 through Christmas Day). Edmonds lead the way last weekend with their Tree Lighting. However, we’re far from done with the holiday fun. Here’s what’s coming up in the next few days.

Earlier I posted this: “Christmas Starts In Edmonds This Evening“. Below are a few photos from the tree lighting. Sadly, I took far more shots, but my camera’s night settings weren’t working well and most of them turned out blurry. I might need to upgrade my old Olympus PEN.
Anyway, head over to the Facebook page and give these one’s a like, if you’d be so good.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving has held a family tradition for us over nearly 2 decades: The Christmas Tree lighting. The tree in question, which is a live tree that lives in the spot year round, is located near a spot we often park. Whenever we’re describing the spot, we don’t call it “the Veteran’s Park”, not “by City Hall”, nor “next to the police station”, nor “where the farmer’s market is”. No, my friends, we’re “parked by the Christmas Tree”. A landmark for the whole year. And we’ll be there, yet again, in a little over an hour.
Maybe I’ll see you there?

Edmonds is one of my favorite spots in the region. I love exploring and am glad I thought to grab my camera and share with you.
The good folks over at the Pacific Chamber Orchestra pinged me on Twitter a few days ago, asking me to add them to my Music and the Arts Page.
@NotJustSeattle Good morning, please add our website to your "Music and the Arts" Blog https://t.co/TQGIRz9VPK @PacificaCOrch is in 9th season of chamber music in #Everett outreach concerts in schools too Thanks! pic.twitter.com/s0BhGgRB8Y

I always delight in finding new artists, so am more than glad to add them. Head over and say “hi”, and lend them your ears during their holiday concert season.
An update from the good folks at the WSDOT.
116th Street Northeast overpass also closed for testing
Both directions of I-5 at 116th Street Northeast will close at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Contractor crews working for the Tulalip Tribes’ interchange project need the closure to safely test the water and sewer lines on the underside of the 116th Street overpass. That overpass will also be closed during the overnight testing. Crews will begin reopening the highway at 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11
Here is the complete breakdown of the lane reductions and closures:
Southbound I-5 closure details
Northbound I-5 closure details
116th Street Northeast closure details
Detour routes
Traffic on I-5 will reduce to one lane in each direction, then drivers will follow detour signs taking them over the 116th Street Northeast off- and on-ramps. When 116th Street Northeast is closed, traffic will detour on local streets to either 88th Street Northeast or State Route 531.
116th Street Northeast Interchange Project
Improving the I-5/116th Street Northeast interchange is part of the Tulalip Tribes project to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in this area. For more information about this project, go to the Tulalip Tribes’ project page.
