Garlic Festival 2013, Sept. 26th – Oct. 13th.

The crisp air of fall returns and so does Lombardi’s Garlic Fest!  After a 5 year hiatus, Lombardi’s Garlic Festival is back, from September 26th to October 13th!

We’ve created a special menu featuring the “Stinking Rose,” in appetizers, entrees, and desserts; crafted garlic infused cocktails, and cooked up a host of special events to celebrate “the love of the bulb.”  And of course it wouldn’t be Garlic Fest without the “Guess how many garlics” contest.

Favorites from our Garlic Festival menu include; Baked Gilroy Garlic with crispy Italian bread, 40 Clove Roasted Chicken, Pasta Nera, with garlic tiger prawns & black linguine, and our ever popular Cappuccino Brownie. Absolutely Heavenly!

The City of Everett Cultural Arts Commission invites nominations for the 2013 Mayor’s Arts Awards and the prestigious Richard Wendt Award of Excellence.  The awards recognize the accomplishments of artists, arts and cultural organizations and community members committed to enriching the Everett community through the arts.

This is the 21st year of the Richard Wendt Award of Excellence, a lifetime achievement award given to those individuals whose strong support of the arts has been ongoing through philanthropic and volunteer service.

In recognition of Everett’s growing arts community, the commission has created the Mayor’s Arts Awards, which in its fourth year will honor art educators, artists in the community and young artists demonstrating promise and commitment to the Everett arts community.

Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4.  The Cultural Arts Commission will review the nominations and select the recipients.  The awards, which are non-monetary, are presented annually.

Festa Italiana : This Weekend September 27-29

I’ve lived the vast majority of my life in this region, yet I still find long-standing, recurring events that I’ve never heard of. Here’s one: Festa Italiana. Part of the Seattle Center’s grand array of cultural events, celebrating the multitude of cultures converging in Seattle.

Starting on Friday the 27th with the Taste of Italy, followed by the actual Annual Italian Festival on Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th. The website has all the details.

My favorite part: starting at 3;30 pm on Sunday, the Spectrum Chamber Players will present a selection of classical Italian pieces. That is worth your time all on its own. Add the grape-stomping, book-signings, wine-tastings…quite a comprehensive list of things to experience.

Bellingham’s Fairhaven Sidewalk Sale : September 21

I’ve long loved the Fairhaven district of Bellingham. It’s quaint (overused, but just too perfect in this case), Victorian charm delights me. My two favorite shops: Village Books and Tony’s Coffee.

With that, this year’s Annual Fairhaven Sidewalk Sale (this Saturday) would be grand fun. I probably can’t make it up. But if you can, go. I expect it to be a lovely time.

I love the text above. Gorgeous font, IMHO. Anyway, what could be more awesome than a chocolate festival! I’m not sure I can fit this one in, but really, REALLY want to. And not just because my favorite chocolate company ever, Theo, is involved.

US Small Business Administration Small Business Fair : Sept. 28 in Renton

Just got this from the US Small Business Administration. Looks like a great opportunity to expand your small business skill-set. And it’s free! I love seeing these opportunities.

If you are looking for one day and one place to learn what you need to start or grow your business, plan on attending this year’s free Washington Small Business Fair Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p..m, at Renton Technical College.

Attend seminars that cover important, up-to-date topics for all stages of business ownership. Savvy business experts share their knowledge and real-life experiences with you. Save valuable time and visit the Exhibitor Resource Center to get the information and help you need from federal, state and local government agencies, and business and trade associations.

The event is free and there is no advance registration, just show up, and spend the day or just a few hours – it’s well worth your time!
