Watch “VANLIFE as a SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER” on YouTube

Alex is from Leavenworth, and worked at REI, so we most likely have some common friends. I adore Penny, her VW Eurovan, and she’s got the coolest dog.

Yeah, I dig vanlife. I don’t really want to LIVE it. I’d like a small van for weekend touring, but I have no desire or plans to drop everything and live solely out of a van. Now, doing something like that in Hawaii would be cool….and maybe I’d could get a trailer for the Lexus.

Anyway, check out Alex’s blog and Instagram pages.

Thoughts On Dan + Shay’s “Tequila”

I’ve heard the song several times, finding it delightful. Sometimes I like to watch my music, or at least stream my music via YouTube. Yesterday this came through. For me, personally, it was awesome.

Besides the videography, the story features Nyle DiMarco, a Deaf model, activist and actor. I appreciated the incorporation of Deaf elements into a music video. As I value inclusion deeply, my delight in this grew.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Some Thoughts On The Traveling Wilburys

Traveling Wilburys

The Traveling Wilburys just popped through my Spotify feed. I loved their music from the get-go. It was sobering, though, to see this photo. 3/5 of them have passed on. Fortunately, Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan seem to be in good health.

I guess there’s a certain immortality here. Photos, videos, and music give these artists a voice long after they’ve died. Recorded audio has transformed so much of how we life, and how we relate to each other. Seeing connections to them that are indistinguishable from when they were alive is a big one. I’m pretty sure there are people who would be shocked to here a band where every member has been dead for years. And not because of some tragedy, but just life.

Well, enough sober reality for one day.

Any of you remember the Seattle radio station KJET ?

My friend Mike was a DJ at KJET, a progressive radio station from back in the 1980s. Lots of wave, groups like The Clash, etc.

Here he’s pulled together a show based on this classic 80s tunes. Check him out on Mixcloud and follow him if you’re a fan of that platform.

A Look At BrickCon 2018

We spent this early afternoon at BrickCon. It’s hard, really, to imagine the scale of this event. 100s of exhibitors, 1000s of attendees. Swarms of people. As much as I delight in the creations, it’s also a bit exhausting to meander and jostle with so many people. I enjoyed myself, but after an hour and a half, we were ready for lunch at the Armory and a nap. I could hear the grand food at Skillet calling my name. Always a happy thing.

Below are a few photos from the day. I hope you enjoy!

Motivational Thought by Eric Whitacre

I’ve loved Mr. Whitacre for years, ever since discovering his Virtual Choir projects (if you haven’t experienced them, go do so right now…I’ll wait).

I appreciate this post. Music runs deep within me. I find inspiration, focus and energy within the dancing notes. The reminder of its power: important.

What does music mean to you? I’ve talked with folks who feel “music…meh…” That’s something I can’t comprehend. Just so alien to me.

Has music saved you? Brought you focus and drive? Are there any songs that you turn to? I’d love to hear your stories.
